Peter Obi's Labour Party (LP) has disclosed that it is working on correcting the list of members of its Presidential Campaign Organisation (PCC) following the errors noticed in the list released earlier.
National Chairman of the party, Comrade Julius Abure, in a statement on Thursday in Abuja, disclosed that the party was looking at “some errors of omission and wrongful inclusions in the Presidential Campaign Council list released by the party yesterday.”
According to him, “The party is making efforts to correct all these anomalies,” as he appealed “to those affected to please await the redress.”
He assured that an updated version will soon be published.
Controversy followed the unveiling of the party's presidential campaign organisation ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The event, however, stirred controversy as the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Comrade Arabambi Abayomi, frowned at the exercise, insisting rather that the leadership of the opposition party was “not involved in Dr Okupe’s mischievous political shenanigans.”
His remarks were quickly countered by the National Chairman of the party who published a statement insisting that “the leadership of the party fully endorsed the media outing of Peter Obi campaign council. The party was fully consulted and was fully represented by a good number of our National Working Committee led by the National Secretary.
“There is therefore no rift between the party and the presidential campaign council as it is being speculated in some quarters. Kindly disregard such fake stories as it is an imagination of our political traducers.
“Both the party and the PCC are united in enthroning a leadership that will salvage the nation and restore the lost glory of our fatherland,” he said.
The current situation in the Labour Party is not totally different from the current situation in both the APC and the PDP that are currently enmeshed in crises.
