Labour Party members have been attacked once more in Enugu State. The latest attack took place during their meeting on Sunday at Umuida, Enugu-Ezike, in e Igbo-Eze North LGA of the state.

A source who spoke on condition of anonymity said: “Hoodlums attacked the Labour Party ward meeting yesterday being Sunday 9/10/2022 at Umuida Enugu-Ezike Igbo-Eze North LGA.

“We were at the meeting when four guys on two bikes arrived at the venue and started shooting in the air.

“Everyone ran away, the ward chairman and others ran forgetting their car keys on the table. We noticed that the gunmen set some motorcycles and keke ablaze.

“They also drove away with a Camry which stopped after a while, due to security. The engine stopped and the two guys came down and set the car ablaze and left.”

Reports say that this is the fourth time Labour Party members would be attacked in Enugu in the past five months.

Previous attacks took place in Aninri, Awgu, and Oji River.

Enugu is under the control of the Peoples Democratic Party but Labour Party is threatening to dislodge it from the Government House during the 2023 ballot.
