Voting going on at polling unit

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (INEC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Kebbi State, Ahmad Bello Mahmud, has called on the political parties and candidates for a peaceful campaigns and rallies.
The commission, in a statement on Friday, September 30, 2022, urged all the political parties to critically study and pay attention to the provisions of the 1999 constitution of Nigeria (as amended), the electoral act 2022, INEC election guidelines for 2023 and the police order to peaceful conduct of the political campaigns, rallies and processions.
It said that the Electoral Act 2022 is clear on what the political parties and candidates must do or not do during the Campaigns, rallies and processions.
INEC added that a political party campaign or slogan shall not be tainted with abusive language that may directly or indirectly injured religious, ethnic, tribal or sectional feelings of other individuals and political parties.
“Therefore, abusive, intemperate or slanderous language or innuendos design or likely to provoke violence reactions or emotions shall not be employed or used during campaigns and rallies,” the commission said.
It also called on political parties in Kebbi State to adhere strictly to the rules in order to succeed.
