The Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) has insisted that today’s Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) elections in Benin City, Edo State, are an exercise in futility.

The Abuja Appeal Court, yesterday morning granted the NFF leave to go ahead with the election, ousting an earlier order by an Abuja High Court on September 15, 2022 halting it.

In a statement yesterday titled ‘Re: Progressing With The NFF Election Is An Exercise In Futility,’ the PFAN Task Force said: “We wish to appeal for calm as our legal team is waiting for the proceedings of today’s Appeal Court session to properly analyse it to advise us on the next line of action.

“Nothing to really worry about. There are several options available for redress and we believe in the sanctity of the laws of the land. But the PFAN Task Force assures all that any purported election to the NFF board on September 30 is an exercise in futility.”

Meanwhile, former Super Eagles Media Officer, Peterside Idah, as well as former Secretary General of the NFF, Musa Amadu, declared yesterday they are still in the race.

“Let it be known that I am in this race to be the president of the NFF,” Idah said. “People are already carrying rumours that I have withdrawn. This is the work of the enemies of progress. As I speak, I am here waiting like others for whatever the electoral committee would say. Please disregard every other information that is not coming directly from me.”Amadu also said yesterday that he did not withdraw from the race as reported on Thursday. (The Guardian)
