Abuja Obi-Datti Mega Rally
By PETER ANOSIKE
The National Coordinator of Obi-Datti Frontiers, Kelvin Odatse Peters, has revealed that crowd funding was the reason behind the success of the Obi-Datti rally which grounded the Federal Capital Territory at the weekend.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen in Abuja, Peters said that Obi-Datti Frontiers mobilized their members from all the six councils in FCT and also provided logistics like transport and refreshments.
According to him, people were happily bringing “their widow's mite” to ensure that the rally took place.
He said that Nigerians were now ready to take back their country and as such, made a lot of unbelievable sacrifices.
The Obi-Datti Frontiers National Coordinator said that even though more than 99 per cent of Nigerians were struggling to put food on their table, some women, on their own, fried beans cake, doughnuts; while others brought small chops and bags of sachet water to share at the rally.
According to him, what he saw at the rally, the enthusiasm and sacrifices proved to him that it was a new dawn and that emancipation of Nigeria by Nigerians has indeed began.
He said that another significance of the mega rally was that it had multi-ethnic and multi- religious participation.
“Hunger and suffering do not discriminate against tongue, tribe or religion. What you saw at the Obi-Datti rally on Saturday was determined Nigerians coming out to march for their emancipation. We, in the Obi-Datti Frontiers, like the other support groups, mobilized our members from all the six councils in FCT and we also provided logistics like transport and refreshments. The money came from our individual voluntary contributions," Peters explained.
