A popular actor and comedian who benefitted from the 2022 Dubai Girls promo has given a clue on how one can qualify for the exciting tour.

Emeka Okoye, a Nollywood star, dropped the clue while fielding questions from visiting African journalists at La Mer Dubai on Friday, September 8, 2022. He told the news hounds, among them News Express Nigeria Publisher Isaac Umunna: “For those who are looking forward to come on board, keep following the Instagram pages of the Dubai Girls; also follow @VisitDubai; follow the people who organised it (the promo) – you will see it on their caption and their advert; follow them up and you will get to know when they are making another video to bring people here again.”

Stressing the need for persistence in participating in the promo, the comic actor said: “Anything you put your mind to, keep doing it and one day it will be your turn. Keep believing that one day you will get on board and definitely you’ll get on board and come here to enjoy Dubai.”

Asked how he qualified as a beneficiary, Emeka Okoye said: “Well, I got the slot on the life video which was done by the Dubai Girls – Omoni Oboli, Chioma Akpotha, Ufuoma McDermott and Uche Jombo. I was actually coming back from a colleague’s wake-keep; that’s the late veteran actress Ada Ameh. I was in a taxi and was typing, when I saw that they had gone live on Instagram. The first thing I said was, ‘I know I’m an actor in Nigeria and have worked with these people, so they’ll say, ‘No-o, this Emeka Okoye is an actor, why should they pick you?’ However, my instinct just said, ‘try, even as a popular actor they’ll still pick you if God says yes, it’s your turn’.

“Then I started typing, ‘Please, my village people, don’t even look for me; I am going to this Dubai to pepper some people . . .’ I started typing there crazy things, writing until Ufuoma noticed me first. I said, ‘Please, I have not travelled before-o, its only Ghana I’ve gone to by road . . . please-o, you can check my passport’.

“Omoni now saw my write-up and said that there is somebody here who is also somebody that they know. They now asked, ‘who is there?’ They said ‘Emeka’. Once they wrote Emeka people started tagging my name, saying, ‘please, pick him, pick him; he is your colleague, he deserves it’. I said, ‘ehh; people are voting for me-o’. They now told me, ‘Emeka, pack your bag!’ Me, I just put up a crying icon because I was really, really surprised; I did not know that I would be picked.”

On his experience in Dubai, Emeka Okoye had this to say: “The experience here has been fun. The treatment has been topnotch, the services: the pickups and the taking care of us – you know, the meals and the hotels . . . Though you know being a Nigerian guy I like Nigerian food but have been able to go through; you know, eating what I know . . .but it’s been fun all through.”

Continuing, he said: “I’m really glad that I’m here today. I thank Dubai Girls, I thank Dubai Tourism and I thank the team that brought us here. I’m very, very grateful.”
