An African movie star has dismissed the notion that one has to be rich to afford a visit or a vacation in the world’s tourist haven, Dubai.

In a chat with newsmen in Dubai, Nollywood star Omoni Oboli insisted that anyone who really wishes to enjoy Dubai’s tourist wonders can do so, as there are ways of saving money on the trip.

Using herself as an example, the screen goddess told a group of visiting African journalists, among them News Express Nigeria Publisher Isaac Umunna: “When I first came to Dubai, I didn’t have money; I saved for it because I really wanted to come and experience Dubai.”

Speaking at a media interaction on Tuesday, September 6, at Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Omoni, one of the four Nollywood divas known as Dubai Girls – the others being Chioma Akpotha, Ufuoma McDermott and Uche Jombo – noted that cost-saving should start from airfare. “You can fly economy,” she said. “Nothing says you must fly first class or business class.”

On the actual stay in Dubai, the star actress noted that one does not necessarily need to stay in a 5-star hotel. “There are many good 3-star hotels in Dubai where one can stay and enjoy it,” she said.

She also pointed out that there are several free and cheap tourist attractions in Dubai, adding that one can equally take advantage of promos such as the one by the Dubai Girls.
