The Kano State Government has requested the approval of the State Assembly to obtain additional N24 billion loan from two commercial banks.
The Speaker, Alhaji Kabiru Rurum, who made the disclosure on Tuesday during plenary, said the request was sent to the house in a letter signed by Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje.
He said that if the request was approved, N10 billion out of the N24 billion would be used for the provision of infrastructure.
He added that the remaining N14 billion would be used for the completion of the ongoing independent power project.
NAN recalls that the House on Monday, approved a request by the government to obtain N20 billion bailout from the CBN.
Also during Tuesday’s plenary, the legislators called on the government to construct three roads linking 13 villages in Rimin Gado and Tofa Local Government Areas.
The call was the outcome of a motion raised by Alhaji Bello Butu-butu, the member representing the two local governments.
Butu-butu, who is also the Deputy Chief Whip, said the motion was necessary due to the present bad condition of the roads.
“The condition of the roads has become serious threat to the lives of the people of those areas.” (NAN)
