Customs boss warns importers, officials against corrupt practices

Importers and officials of the Nigeria Customs Service have been warned against corrupt practices in the maritime sector.

The Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd), gave the warning on Monday while addressing Customs officials in his maiden visit to Lagos State.

He stressed that the days of corruption were over and that anyone caught would be dealt with accordingly.

Repositioning, restructuring and generation of more revenue for the government, were the key points of his speech. He stressed that revenue leakages must be blocked for the nation to generate more revenue from the maritime sector.

Speaking with officers and men of the Seme Area Command in Lagos, the Customs boss, urged the officials to carry out their duties according to the dictates of the law that established the service. (Channels TV)
