Barring any last-minute change of plans, the Senate is expected to resume the screening of the second batch of ministerial nominees today and conclude the exercise today.
Former governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi, is expected to take his turn today alongside another nominee, Adebayo Shittu. Both men were in the first batch of nominees but could not be screened along with the 19 others because of petitions against them.
The nomination of Amaechi has generated a lot of controversy following petitions from a group in Rivers State accusing him of fraudulent practices during his tenure as Governor of Rivers State.
Sixteen nominees are in the second list read on the floor of the Senate by the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki. Already 18 others in the first batch of nominees have been confirmed by the Senate.
