The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Osogbo, has dismissed the petition filed against the election of Yinka Ajayi, representing Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo-otin Federal Constituency, Osun State.
The Peoples Democratic Party candidate (PDP), Kayode Oduoye, had approached Justice A. G. Kajaffa-led tribunal panel, to challenge the victory of Ajayi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the election, on the basis of gross election malpractice and irregularities.
Justice Kajaffa in his ruling, noted that the petitioner failed to present and establish evidence(s) in support of his claims, saying there was no compliance to Electoral Act and the manual of election, hence the unanimous decision to strike it out.
Counsel to Yinka Ajayi of APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Wale Afolabi and Olalekan Olorunfemi, also expressed satisfaction with the judgement of the tribunal which upheld the victory of the election, describing it as justice served.
However, Counsel to the petitioner, Henry Odunayo, said his client will explore the next line of actions available to him within the purview of the law. (Channels TV)
