The authorities of the Lagos State University’s (LASU) Radio 95.7FM on Friday said the station would compete favourably with the best in Nigerian universities when it begins full operation.
Mr. Muyiwa Ojekunle, Head, LASU Radio 95.7 FM, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the station has qualified manpower and modern equipment to transmit excellently and uninterruptedly.
“We are full ready to start work; we’re only waiting for the green light of the authorities of the university before we swing into action. LASU Radio will soar higher and win laurels in the campus radio stations category because it has talented individuals,” he said.
Ojekunle said the radio station had recently trained 30 students, drawn from all the faculties of the university in a two-week intensive programme to prepare ahead for full transmission.
“The training was an introduction to broadcast practices in the area of Art of Radio, Programme Format, how to connect with radio listeners, and ABC of Radio Broadcast.
“The programme was successful as the volunteers performed excellently.”
Meanwhile, the recruitment exercise for the second phase of the volunteers has commenced, Ojekunle said. (NAN)
