BREAKING NEWS: Buhari finally submits list of ministers

President Muhammed Buhari has finally submitted the list of his ministerial nominees to the National Assembly.

Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, who doubles as Chairman of the 8th National Assembly, this evening in Abuja confirmed receiving the list of ministerial nominees from President Buhari.

He said that the ministerial list was sent to his office from the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Abba Kyari, and the Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang.

Saraki stated that: “About an hour ago, I received the list of President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial nominees from the Chief of Staff to Mr. President, Abba Kyari, and the Special Adviser to Mr. President on National Assembly (Senate), Sen. Ita Enang.

He assured that he would follow due process in the screening of the ministerial nominees.

Tension had heightened across the nation when Buhari, who took office on May 29, did not make the list available as the end of today’s Senate session.

The President had assured that the list containing the nominees into ministerial offices would be submitted to the Red Chamber latest by September 30, for onward screening and possible confirmation.

However, the Senate President, who announces correspondences from the President at the beginning of plenary, before the consideration of any other items in the day’s business, could not announce any letter from the President during today’s session, indicating that there was no such list at his disposal.

This led to a heated argument among opposition and ruling party Senators.
