The Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) in charge of Adamawa, Borno, Taraba and Yobe States, on Tuesday unveiled its 10-year proposed tariff plans for customers in the zone.
Speaking at the ceremony in Yola, the Senior Corporate Communication Officer of YEDC, Mr. Kingsley Nkemneme, said the presentation was in compliance with the directive by the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
Nkemneme said the presentation was designed to show customers and stakeholders the proposed tariff plan that would guide the company's business operations over the next 10 years.
“This presentation is also aimed at reviewing the extent of implementation of the plan and exploring fresh strategies required by the distribution companies and all other stakeholder in the power sector, to address emerging challenges facing Nigeria's power sector.”
Nkemneme urged stakeholders and customers to brainstorm and forward their feedback and comments for implementation in the company's final report.
Many stakeholders who spoke at the occasion lauded the initiative which they said would help tackle some of the challenges affecting electricity supply in Nigeria.
High point of the occasion was the presentation of the new tariff report for discussion and observation by Mr. Tajudeen Olawiyi, the Head of Metering Regulatory Compliance. (NAN)
