The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Plateau State said it had recorded nine deaths from two crashes during the Eid-el-kabir celebration in the state.
The state Sector Commander, Mr. Crawford Oti, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Jos.
Oti said that seven persons also sustained injuries from the same crashes which involved four commercial vehicles.
He attributed the causes of the accidents to speed limit violation, lack of concentration and dangerous overtaking.
The commandant, however, said compared to other years, during similar celebration, the number of crashes recorded this year was minimal.
“The two crashes recorded were minor; I call it minor because if compared to records from previous years, the number of accidents recorded during the just celebrated Eid-el-Kabir is minimal.
“We had less crash because of the tight and effective patrol measures that our officers and men adopted during the festive period.”
He urged motorists to always obey traffic regulations to stay alive. (NAN)
