Senate resumes today, set for Buhari’s ministerial list

The Senate will resume from its six weeks break today, Tuesday, September 29, 2015. Chairman, Senate Adhoc Committee on Media and Publicity, Senator Dino Melaye, disclosed this yesterday while speaking with newsmen in Abuja.

Melaye assured that the present challenges confronting the red chamber would soon be surmounted.

“I want to confirm that the Senate will resume tomorrow (Tuesday) and that we are set to carry out all our legislative responsibilities.

“I also want to use this opportunity to announce the resolve of the Senate, to do only those things that will promote the unity, prosperity and wellbeing of the Nigerian people,” he said.

Commenting on the ministerial list expected to be submitted to the Senate today by President Muhammadu Buhari, Melaye said: “We are willing and ready to receive all communication from Mr. President and we will act accordingly. We once again reiterate our allegiance to the Nigerian people.”

He stated that the Senate is committed to always do only those things that would promote the unity, prosperity and wellbeing of the Nigerian people.

Melaye further reassured that there will be no stormy session in the Senate on resumption as being peddled by a section of the media, since both the leadership of the upper chamber and all Senators are at peace among themselves and are focused on working for the betterment of the country at all times.
