Governor Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has given assurance that the rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) will be adequately captured in the state's 2016 budget.
The governor said this on Friday when His Deputy, Mr. Silas Agara, led other government officials to pay him Sallah homage at Government House, Lafia.
He explained that the government had discovered that IDPs from the various crises in the state needed economic empowerment to enable them to revive their communities.
He said that budgetary provision for the rehabilitation of the IDPs would go a long way to address most of their challenges and create avenues for genuine economic activities within the affected communities.
Al-Makura reiterated his administration's commitment towards ensuring unity and peace in the state by exploring all avenues and initiatives.
He admonished the people of the state to encourage inter-tribal marriages, saying that such would engender peaceful co-existence among communities.
He, therefore, charged the people of the state to eschew all forms of violence and embrace peace as no society could develop in an atmosphere of rancour.
Agara, who spoke on behalf of the government officials, assured the governor of their commitment to the success of the administration.
He said that the governor's vision would turn around the fortunes of the state and its citizens and urged the people to key into the vision for the benefit of all. (NAN)
