Bagudu urges flood victims in Kebbi to use assistance judiciously

The Kebbi State Governor, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, has urged flood victims in the state to use the assistance offered them by the federal and state governments judiciously.

Bagudu made the call in an Eid-el-Kabir message to the people in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

He said the flood victims, mostly farmers, had been assisted with fertilisers, water pumping machines and seedlings to enable them to engage in dry season farming.

The governor said the farmers would be encouraged to engage more in dry season farming as the flood caused huge damage to crops during the farming season.

“Our recent estimate indicates that millions of hectares of rice farm were damaged by the flood.”

He commended the people of the state and the security agencies for their efforts in ensuring and sustaining peaceful coexistence among different groups in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that areas affected by flood in the state are Argungu, Bunza, Birnin Kebbi, Yauri, Kalgo, Suru, Bagudo and Ngaski local government areas. (NAN)
