Nasarawa State Government has appealed to workers in the state to show understanding over its inability to pay salaries ahead of Eid el -Kabir on Thursday.
The state's Accountant General Mohammed Musa made the appeal while addressing newsmen on Wednesday in Lafia.
Musa attributed the inability of the state government to pay the salaries before the festivities on delay in holding the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting.
He explained that the meeting was held on Tuesday, September 23, and that it would take a minimum of three working days for the Central Bank of Nigeria to commence the release of allocations of each state to their accounts.
In the same vein, Hajiya Zainab Ahmed, Secretary to the state government, debunked insinuations making rounds that the state government's inability to pay salaries was as a result of the ongoing staff biometric capture exercise in the state.
She appealed to workers to bear with the government and assured them that as soon as the money is sent to the state account, salaries would be paid. (NAN)
