The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has warned motorists against reckless driving and over speeding during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The Ore Unit Commander of FRSC, Mr. Kehinde Dahunsi gave the warning in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Ore, Ondo State.
Dahunsi noted that road accidents were usually caused by human errors, particularly by not obeying traffic rules.
He added that traffic offences included over speeding, reckless driving, over loading of goods and passengers, overtaking at road bends, non-usage of safety belts and use of expired tyres.
“Most of the road crashes are recorded during festivities or celebrations especially by commercial motorists who want to make as many trips as possible.
“We are imploring motorists and other road users to comply with all traffic rules in order to save lives and property.”
He said the unit would deploy corps marshals on the Benin-Ore-Sagamu expressway to caution motorists and arrest any who flout traffic rules. (NAN)
