A frontline contender for governor of Abia State, Professor Gregory Ikechukwu Ibe, on Wednesday presented brand new Sienna Vehicles to 19 Local Government chairmen of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state, in his hometown in Uturu.
The branded vehicles Ibe said is meant to motivate the party leaders to work. Ibe, who recently dumped his party (PDP) for APGA said the gesture is to demonstrate to the party that he is committed to the governorship race in the state. The vehicle presentation was accompanied with cash to enable the beneficiaries get the work with delays. The Abia North aspirant who is also the founder of Gregory University, equally announced a full scholarship package for children and wards of the LG chairmen and others present at the occasion.
Speaking at the presentation, Director General of Ibe Campaign Organisation, Hon Emeka Okoafor stressed that the vehicles were for campaign, adding that the branded vehicles would enhance the image of APGA in the state. He also spoke glowingly on Ibe’s achievements, humility and plans to rebuild Abia state if he gets the peoples mandate in 2023.
He used the occasion to publicly present Ibe’s Master Plan, tagged Roadmap to a NEW ABIA.
The LG chairmen who spoke in turns pledged to moblise voters for Ibe, saying they would work committedly as a teamto realise Ibe’s governorship ambition.
Meanwhile, in his remarks, the Abia state Chairman of APGA, Rev Augustin Ehiemere challenged other governorship aspirants to emulate Ibe’s gestures. He expressed amazement at the donations by Ibe saying that since the history of the party in Abia, nothing like the type has been witnessed. “I challenge any aspirant or leaders of the party to contradict me within 24 hours if they can claim to have been funding the party”. He said.
The state chairman assured Ibe that he will monitor the beneficiaries to ensure that the vehicles are used for the set purpose, while pledging his support for Ibe.
Present at well attended occasion are; Hon John Nwokocha, Hon (Mrs) Stella Nwaohamuo, Women’s Leader, zonal leadership of APGA, State executives of the party, scores of aspirants, top members of the Ibe Campaign Organisation(ICO), and members of the press.
