A frontline pressure group in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), PDP National Youth Vanguard, has called on former Deputy Chief of Staff to the Abia State Governor, Chief Charles Ogbonna, to desist from working against the interests of Ndigbo ahead of the PDP Presidential primaries and 2023 Presidential elections.

The group said that it had come to their attention that Chief Charles Ogbonna was allegedly leading a cabal to collapse 2023 Igbo presidency project.

A press release issued yesterday by Barr Franklin Nkemdirim, National Pub Secretary,

PDP National Youth Vanguard, stated that such actions warrant a stiff punishment to serve as a deterrent to others whose trademarks are synonymous with betrayal and sabotage.

“We are aware of the fact that he is the ring leader of political Musketeers who are interested in advancing the interest of Atiku Abubakar against the Southeast project, irrespective of the fact that he has the Constitutional right to campaign for any aspirant of his choice but doing it now against the interests of Ndigbo shows that he is the leprous finger that deserves political amputation and should not be allowed to repeat the sad history of Jos'98 PDP convention where Jim Nwobodo was used to abort the victory of Dr. Ekwueme.”

“The recent verbal actions of Charles Ogbonna against Abia PDP zoning is the opening salvo of their operations in an attempt to destabilize Abia PDP for Atiku Abubakar’s preferred Abia Guber Aspirant from Abia North.”

The statement added: “We are aware that Charles Ogbonna is playing out the scripts of unseen allies of Atiku in Abia, whose interest remains to continuously impose either a former commissioner or a former speaker from Ohafia and Arochukwu axis as his stooges as Abia Governor so that Abia will be held in bondage for the next 8 years.”
