Chris Uba
By PAMELA EBOH, Awka
The self-acclaimed godfather of Anambra politics, Chief Chris Uba, has dismissed the news of his suspension by the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying that the party cannot suspend him.
The party under the leadership of Chief Ndubisi Nwobu had announced the suspension of Uba and Linus Ukachukwu over alleged anti-party activities.
The suspension of the duo was contained in a letter written by the acting chairman of the PDP in the state, Comrade Okey Asolo and the Publicity Secretary, Mr Nnamdi Nwangwu.
The letter accused Uba and Ukachukwu of secretly working with other political parties to make PDP go into extinction in the state.
It added: “If the accused persons continue to be in the party, PDP may not field any candidate for the 2023 general elections.”
In his reaction, Uba who is the younger brother of Senator Andy Uba, the court-disqualified governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2021 governorship election in Anambra State, said that those behind the suspension were agents of Nwobu.
While insisting that the suspension would not stand, Uba added: “They said that they have suspended me. They cannot suspend me. Even if they want to suspend me, they cannot suspend at the state level.
“If you want to suspend any person, it has to be at the ward level and not state or national level.
“They are not at my level and cannot be at my level; in party politics, both in the state and at National level, I am above them.”
