PDP National Secretary, Senator Anyanwu
National Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, has waded into the minor disagreement involving some leaders and members of the party’s chapter in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, appealing to aggrieved persons to eschew rancour and acrimony, for the good of the party.
A statement on Saturday by the Special Adviser (Media) to the PDP National Secretary, Ikenna Onuoha, said the Amaimo Ikeduru-born conflict resolution expert also urged those directly or indirectly connected to the avoidable in-fighting to desist from fueling crisis among party members, advising them to rather key into the vision of rescue and rebuild Nigeria.
At a peace meeting he called in Owerri, the Imo State capital, with the leadership of the party in Ikeduru LGA including Ward Chairmen, Secretaries, Youth leaders and select women leaders in attendance, Anyanwu expressed bitterness over the recent internal party wrangling involving some prominent leaders of the party in the LGA, describing it as embarrassing and uncalled for.
He called on all aggrieved persons to sheath their sword and allow peace to reign, admonishing them to join hands with him and other leaders of the party to move PDP forward.
“I advise you to embrace yourselves and unite as a family. Forget what happened yesterday, and begin a fresh life. It is not encouraging for those whose duties are to lead the sheep to begin to go astray as the shepherd because of selfish interest. If we continue this way as a political party, the idea of rescuing and rebuilding Nigeria will be defeated,” Senator Anyanwu said.
“Our common enemies should not be our brothers, members or leaders, but the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and its leaders in Nigeria. We should learn to forgive and desist from making enemies for our party. The idea of fighting ourselves should be highly discouraged if we have to move forward,” he added.
He therefore frowned at the level of disrespect for the party’s constituted authorities by those who ought to have known the importance of respect in leadership and further enjoined them to instead channel their strength into canvassing for new membership for PDP as part of measures to strengthen the party.
