How our Editor was shot – SUN clears the air

The circumstances surrounding yesterday’s shooting of the Editor of Daily Sun, Mr. Steve Nwosu, have become clearer.

A report in today’s edition of the paper confirmed that Mr. Nwosu was shot yesterday afternoon on his way to the office but attributed it to armed robbers. News of the shooting of Mr. Nwosu had been broken by Transport & Business Express, whose sources attributed the act to suspected assassins.

However, Daily Sun has it that Mr. Nwosu “was attacked and shot in the right side of the head by gunmen, who robbed him of N250, 000 before fleeing the scene of the robbery on a motorbike.” It said that the shooting took place at about 3.15 p.m. in Agboju, a densely populated residential suburb of Amuwo, Lagos. Agboju is within the vicinity of Mazamaza, where initial reports said Mr. Nwosu was shot.

Daily Sun quoted the doctor taking care of Mr. Nwosu as describing the incident as “a close shave with death,” adding however that the editor was stable and in high spirits although shocked by the incident.
