The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has debunked rumours that Department of Security Service operatives found some illegal arms during search on the presidential wing of the Akwa Ibom State Government House in Uyo.
He told a gathering at an event in the state capital that he did not stock pile arms as claimed by the DSS and that being a governor that understands the legal implication of such acts, he could not have embarked in piling of arms as reported.
Addressing the people at Peacock Paints Industry, one of the moribund industries recently resuscitated by his administration, the Governor described the recommissioning of the paint factory as a demonstration of his administration’s commitment to prudent management of resources.
Governor Emmanuel, said the company is now fully owned by the State Government but would be privatised in due course, adding that a total of N526 million had been spent to reactivate the company.
He directed that all government contractors must make use of the company’s products or have their contacts revoked.
The governor said the decision became necessary to ensure the success of the recommissioned company. (Channels TV)
