Akpabio breaks silence on accident, speaks from London

Senate Minority Leader, Chief Godswill Akpabio, this afternoon broke his silence on the road crash that left him injured on Monday morning in Abuja and in need of medical attention.

In a statement issued from London and personally signed by him, the immediate past Akwa Ibom State Governor charged Nigerians, particularly the political class, to desist from politicising disasters and tragedies, but to work towards the unity and progress of the country without any political or ethnic coloration.

He thanked God for his survival and said he remained grateful to Nigerians for their prayers and display of concern.

The former governor specifically thank President Muhamadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, his (Akpabio’s) successor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, his colleagues in the National Assembly and former president Goodluck Jonathan, for their concern and expression of love when the accident occurred.

He also expressed the appreciation of his family members to traditional and religious leaders, who have been calling on a daily basis to inquire about his well being.

Akpabio disowned Twitter and Facebook accounts opened on his behalf, advising those who are doing so to desist from such, as he has not authorised or cause to be opened any Facebook or Twitter account on his behalf.
