Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr Dave Umahi, has forwarded the list of caretaker committee nominees for the 13 local government councils in the state to the state House of Assembly.

News Expressgathered that Umahi had sent the list of the nominees to the House last Thursday shortly after assenting to the amended section of the Local Government and Development Centre law.

According to the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Emma Anya, women were highly favoured in the nomination as two of them were nominated for the position of chairperson while the vice chairmanship and secretaryship positions were equally reserved for female folk.

“For women in the state, it is cheering news as the list sent to the stateHouse of Assembly by Governor Dave Umahi shows that 100 per cent of vice-chairmanship and secretary positions were reserved for them,” Anya said in a statement made available toNews Express.

“They (women) are also to produce two chairmen for Onicha and Ezza North LGAs,” the CPS added.

Anya disclosed that the list, as submitted, indicates that AbakalikiLocal Government Area has Peter Nwogbaga as Chairman, with Mrs Lady Maria Eze as Secretary while AfikpoNorthhasOgbonnia Oko Enyim as chairman and Chief Mrs Oledinma as Secretary.

Afikpo South has Barr. Eni Uduma as chairman, while Mrs Ngozi Ugwumba was nominated as Secretary.

Others are: Ebonyi LG: Barr. Anselem Enigwe – Chairman, Mrs Elizabeth Igwe – Secretary;

Ezza North: Dr. Norah Oluchi Alo – Chairman, Mrs Anthonia Nwite – Secretary;

Ezza South -Joseph Elom Egede – Chairman and Mrs Eucharia Nwali – Secretary and

Ikwo: Joseph Nwonu Orogwu – Chairman, Mrs Chinasa Itumo – Secretary.

The rest are: Ishielu: Mr Henry Sunday Eze – Chairman, Mrs Amaka Orji – Secretary;

Ivo: Ogbonnia Chukwu Ude – Chairman, Mrs Elizabeth Ojukwu – Secretary;

Izzi: Hon. Richard Idike – Chairman, Mrs Martha Lebara – Secretary;

Ohaozara: Justice Ogbonnia Sunday – Chairman, Mrs Christiana Okorie – Secretary;

Ohaukwu: Barr. Clement Odah – Chairman, Mrs Egwu Chinyere Ominyi – Secretary;

Onicha: Mrs Elizabeth Onwe – Chairman, Mrs Vivian Ukamaka Nwite – Secretary.

The House of Assembly is expected to commence screening of the nominees tomorrow, September 7.
