The Chief of Defence Staff in Nigeria, General Gabriel Olonisakin, has urged the Armed Forces to remain committed to their operational responsibility and National Security while making efforts to end insurgency in the north-east.
In a brief ceremony at the Conference Hall of the Defence Headquarters, General Olonisakin unveiled his vision for Armed Forces of Nigeria which is “to ensure a well-motivated, trained and equipped Armed Force that is responsive to national security commitments.”
General Olonisakin commended the field commanders and the troops in the north-east for maintaining the momentum in their efforts to rout out terrorists from the region.
He gave the commendation while holding a brief with the Principal Staff Officers and senior officers of the Defence Headquarters on Tuesday.
He said all hands must be on deck to ensure that the presidential directive of ending terrorism very shortly was achieved.
The Chief of Defence Staff emphasised that the pursuance and drive of all operational responsibilities of the Defence Headquarters henceforth would be guided by the vision.
