Lagos deputy gov. urges compliance with environmental sanitation laws

The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Idiat Adebule, on Saturday urged Lagos residents to comply totally with the environmental sanitation law on restriction of movement during the monthly exercise.

Adebule made the plea when she monitore this month’s exercise at Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

She said offenders would be made to face penalties as stipulated in the environmental sanitation law.

“We are here to see things for ourselves within Ikorodu West LCDA and I want to implore our people to be committed to adequate cleaning of their surroundings at all times.

“The environmental sanitation laws are still in force and those who refuse to obey these laws will be punished.

“We have noted your areas of challenge and I want to assure you that necessary government agencies will be mobilised to address them.”

She urged the residents of Ikorodu West LCDA to take ownership and care of the facilities government planned to provide for them.

Adebule assured that the new administration in Lagos remained committed to making life better for the citizens.

She added that government was already compiling a list of projects to be embarked upon across all the 57 Local Governments and LCDAs.

According to the deputy governor, the people will soon begin to feel the impact of the new administration.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mr. Adunni Oyefusi, the LCDA’s Executive Secretary led the deputy governor's team to Ori-Okuta, Agbede and Idiroko communities within the LCDA to inspect ongoing projects.

Oyefusi also notified the delegation of infrastructural challenges requiring government's intervention in the LCDA. (NAN)
