Upcoming star singer Moses Obi-Adigwe a.k.a The Tedy Bear is the Nigerian Idol for this year. He beat archrival Debbie Olu-Rise minutes last night in the Nigerian Idol Season 3 grand finale in Lagos, Nigeria’s economic and entertainment capital, to win the star prize of N7.5 million and an SUV jeep.
Moses’ victory did not come as a surprise as he was the clear favourite following the eviction, on March 30, of Abasiakan Hanson and Jay-Feel (Joshua Enathimon), who usually received the loudest ovation from the audience.
That shock eviction left Moses, Debbie Rise and Safeeyat (Safiya Ramat Idachaba) as the last three standing, but Safeeyat was evicted the next week, leaving Moses and Debbie Rise to contest for the coveted prize.
Sponsored by Etisalat, a mobile telecom company, this year’s Nigerian Idol featured music stars such as Femi Kuti, Yinka Davies and African Jeffrey Daniel as judges.
