Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwuni Ambode, yesterday led a long list of dignitaries to honour one of Nigeria’s finest journalists and image makers, Mr. Ugochukwu A. Okoroafor, as he took his exit from Nigeria’s apex bank upon the attainment of the retirement age for the country’s civil servants.
The 60th Birthday and Retirement Thanksgiving Interdenominational Service of Mr. Okoroafor, erstwhile Director, Corporate Communications, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), took place yesterday morning, August 21, 2015, at the Ecumenical Centre, opposite CBN Headquarters, Abuja.
Mr. Okoroafor, who later functioned as Special Adviser to CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele, is an alumnus of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Plateau State. The Institute is Nigeria’s a policy formation centre for bureaucrats, private sector leaders, Army officers, and medium-rank and senior civil servants.
Mr. Okoroafor, who is happily married with children, made his mark as a journalist before joining Nigeria’s apex bank. He would be remembered for the increased positive publicity CBN enjoyed during his tenure and for his stout defence of its policies and activities.
