President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended the Comptroller General of Immigration Service, Mr David Parradang, with immediate effect.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued today in Abuja by the Ministry of Interior. It was signed on behalf of the ministry’s Permanent Secretary by the Director of Press, Mr Yusuf Isiaka.
“The statement did not state the reasons for his suspension but asked Mr Martin Abeshi, a Deputy Comptroller General to take over the affairs of the office,” a Channels TV report said.
Mr Parradang was appointed the Comptroller General of Immigration in June 2013 for a four-year tenure.
He was in office during the infamous immigration recruit in 2014, which led to the death of at least 15 applicants across Nigeria.
