By PAMELA EBOH, Awka
The six lawmakers of the Anambra State House of Assembly that dumped the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) have explained that they left the party because it was dying.
The lawmakers said that there was need to leave for a better place, adding that they joined APC to work with its governorship candidate, Sen. Andy Uba, to connect Anambra to the centre.
According to them, connecting the state to the center will help to ensure that the dividends of democracy are felt in the state.
The lawmakers who took turns to speak during the welcome reception organized for Senator Uba at Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State called on residents of the state to cast their vote for Uba to ensure a better state.
In his speech, the member representing Dunukofia state constituency, Hon Ezeudu Lawrence, said: “We are in APC because of Andy Uba. He is a man of impeccable character. We decided to follow the man who knows the way, who will connect us to power at the centre, and to benefit from what they intend to give to Anambra.”
On his part, Hon Carter Dike, the member representing Aguata 1 said: “The symbol of our former party, the cock, is dead. The leaders of the party have killed the cock, and the party is in disarray.”
The six state lawmakers which included Hon. Nonso Okafor representing Nnewi North; Hon. Timothy Ifedioramma representing Njikoka 1; Hon. Cater D. N Umeoduagu representing Aguata 1; Hon. Lawrence Ezeudu representing Dunukofia; Hon. Arthur Chiekwu representing Idemili North and Hon. Edward Ibuzo, representing Onisha North 2, had last week joined APC in Abuja.
