“Operation Kenya Must Fall”: Keshi invites 39 stars for Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifier

Super Eagles’ Head Coach, Stephen Keshi, has unveiled a combined list of 40 star ball jugglers for this month’s 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against the Harambee Stars of Kenya. The Group F match involving table-topping Nigeria (four points) and bottom-placed Kenya (one point) is scheduled for the U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar, on Saturday, March 23.

Yesterday, Keshi released a list of 15 overseas-based professionals that included 11 members of the squad that lifted the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa on February 10. Obafemi Martins makes a return, with Ukraine-based Babatunde Michael, who played for the Dream Team at the inaugural CAF U-23 Championship in Morocco 15 months ago, as a surprise call-up.

Keshi had on March 5 invited24 home-based players to camp, among them Africa Cup of Nations stars Sunday Mba and Godfrey Oboabona. The camp (Bolton White Apartments, Abuja) opens this Sunday, March 10.
