Governor Udom Emmanuel appoints Akpabio’s aide SSG •Heads Finance and General Purposes C’tee

Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, yesterday announced the appointment of former Governor Godwin Akpabio’s Chief of Staff, Mr. Etekamba Umoren as the Secretary to State Government.

He also announced that he shall henceforth become the Chairman of the Finance and General Purposes Committee (FGPC).

The new SSG is a retired Permanent Secretary, Government House, Uyo, a graduate of University of Benin and a Knight of John Wesley. He is a seasoned technocrat who has attended different courses overseas.

Another appointment was that of Pastor Bassey Umoh as Permanent Secretary, Governor’s Office. Until his appointment, he was Auditor-General of Local Government.

The immediate past Director of Media and Publicity for the Udom/Moses Campaign Organization, 2015, Mr. Ekerete Udoh was appointed Senior Special Assistant (Media) and Chief Press Secretary.

Udoh who is a holder of B.A (Political Science and Journalism), Queens College, City University of New York and M.A (Political Science) Special Concentrations in International Relations and Comparative Politics, Brooklyn College, City University of New York. A former columnist with Sunday Concord, Thisday, Vanguard, Editor of Hints magazine and Publisher of The Diasporan Star, New York; Udoh has spent over 28 years in journalism profession.

The Permanent Secretary (Protocol) in the immediate past government, Mr. Aniekpeno Mkpanang is the new Permanent Secretary, Special Services Department, (SSD) while Mr. Edmond Uffang was appointed Protocol Chief.

A graduate of Yaba College of Technology, Uffang is a successful businessman and protocol consultant.

Pastor Daniel Akwatang was appointed the Special Assistant to the Executive Governor on Religious Affairs.

The governor wished the newly appointed aides the very best in the discharge of their responsibilities.
