He is the musician that did the popular hit song Oyibo some years ago. Today, the Benin City-born Anogri continues to send audiences wild in excitement any time he takes to the stage.

Last weekend, at the Coded Lounge (a flashy club in GRA, Benin City), Anogri rendered a really cool performance to a small audience specially invited to an All Red and White party put together by the owners of the Lounge.

Following some impressive freestyle performances by some young artistes rapping to Lil Wayne’s A Milli instrumentals, famous Edo movie producer and director, Lancelot Imasuen, introduced Anogri to the delight of all. He didn’t disappoint, as he immediately served his Oyibo tune. Following a couple of other songs of his, the excited audience couldn’t hold back as they joined Anogri on stage in dancing to his tunes.

After his performance, the owner of the bar, IK Kelvin, who is a personal friend of Anogri, took the mic and said to the audience: “I want to tell you all a personal secret about Anogri. He never drinks beer, wine or any other thing alcoholic.”

Holding up a bottle of water, Kelvin said: “This is his drink.”

In a business where artistes depend on the high that alcohol and other drugs bring in fueling their performance, Anogri’s abstinence is quite impressive.
