Owerri North roads blocked as Emekuku celebrates Okorocha, Chief of Staff

Following the declaration of the incumbent Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner of the 2015 gubernatorial election in the state by the Independent national Electoral Commission (INEC), major roads in Owerri North council area were on Sunday blocked and thrown into jubilation by the entire people of Emekuku community as part of their resolve to celebrate Sir Jude Ejiogu and the victory of the party in the constituency.

Speaking on behalf of the jubilating group, High Chief Ike Njoku said that the reception was organized in recognition of the efforts of the Chief of Staff, Sir Jude Ejiogu which led to the victory of Governor Rochas Okorocha in the Owerri Federal Constituency, and commended him for his bold step in leading Owerri people to the promise land.

Chief Njoku, while expressing happiness on the giant strides Sir Ejiogu has recorded in the constituency within the short period he has remained in government, also called on other leaders in the area to emulate him.

Meanwhile, the Transition Committee Chairman of Owerri North, Hon. Law Madu has described the warmth reception organised on behalf of Sir Jude Ejiogu by Emekuku people as well deserved, saying that if the Chief of Staff had not thrown his weight on the party in Owerri Federal Constituency both financially and materially, APC would not have recorded the massive support in the election, describing him as effective, reliable and a leader to be reckoned with.

For the APC Chairman of Owerri North LGA, Apostle Hilary Ihebom, the reception was timely and merited, recounting the efforts of Sir Ejiogu before, during and after the election which according to him led to the victory of the party in the area.

In their separate speeches, Messrs Austin Igbozuruike, Ofoegbu Oscar, Iyke Igwe, and new Labour Chairman Imo State, Austin Chilakpu described the reception as a new beginning for a new leader, who, despite all political propaganda against him by detractors, was able to mobilize the people of his constituency which they said, necessitated the victory.

In his speech, Ejiogu expressed joy for the reception and linked the victory of APC in their constituency as a result of the people’s resolve to continue with good governance, and thanked Emekuku people for honouring him.

He assured them of government’s willingness to continue to sustain the free education programme and infrastructural development in the state, appealing to them to always remember Governor Okorocha and his cabinet members in prayer, pointing out that their decision to support APC in the just concluded polls in Imo State and Nigeria at large would not be forgotten.
