PDP heads for victory in rescheduled Bayelsa Assembly polls

Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the peaceful conduct of yesterday rescheduled House of Assembly elections, just as Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) looked good to carry the day.

Dickson cast his votes along with his wife, Rachael, at his hometown polling Unit 5, Orue-Ereware at Toru-Orua, Sagbama Ward 2 in Sagbama Local Government Area.

It was gathered that the PDP candidates in Sagbama, Southern Ijaw and Kolokuma-Opokuma constituencies were already coasting home to victory.

A visit to the various collation Centres in most of the polling units shows that the PDP candidates in Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area were clearly in the lead.

Hon. Tonye Isenah of KOLGA constituency 1 and Hon. Ongore Ebikeme Joshua of constituency 2 are leading by a wide margin.

Also All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidates allegedly sponsored by the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, and Waripamowei Dudafa were roundly defeated at the polls despite what a source described as “their undue interference and manipulation of the process.”

Similarly, reports of the polls result filtering in the other constituencies in Sagbama, Ekeremor and Southern Ijaw Local Government Areas also clearly revealled that all the PDP candidates are clearly in the lead.

“It is very certain that PDP will have clean sweep of all the 8 constituencies in the rescheduled polls conducted today (Saturday April 18 2015,” a source said.
