Edo PDP trades blame over poor showing at House of Assembly polls

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)in Edo State are currently engaging one another in a blame game following their loss at the Edo State House of Assembly elections held last Saturday.

A source who, spoke with News Express blamed elected members of the party in the national assembly race for not doing enough campaigning for the House of Assembly candidates after they had won their own contests.

“The elected House of Representatives candidates quite frankly didn't do enough to help their junior colleagues. They didn't spend enough money as they did in their own races to help the House of Assembly candidates (defeat those of the All Progressives Congress, APC,” the source said.

News Express also overheard some PDP officials, discussing at the Ologbosere primary school voting center in Ikpoba Okha local government area during the House of Assembly elections, complaining over what they said was non arrival of money from Abuja to prosecute the battle for the House seats.

One PDP party member lamented as voting reached an advanced stage last Saturday: “There’s no money to motivate voters. The APC used .our tactics of last time (during the National Assembly and presidential polls) by spreading loads of money on election day. Now they have succeeded.”
