The Campaign Organisation of Mr Gboyega Isiaka, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Gboyega Isiaka, said it would contest the results of the Saturday polls at the tribunal.
Director of the organisation, Mr Ifekayode Akinbode, made this known at a news conference in Abeokuta on Sunday
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate and governor of the state, winner of the polls.
“We hereby declared that the gubernatorial election held on Saturday is very unfortunate and a travesty staged to help the APC achieve victory.
“We are not oblivious of the clear manipulations, misrepresentations, underhand dealings and outright rigging by the APC.
“This was done unfortunately with the culpability of INEC.
“Let us quickly state emphatically that we are displeased with the outcome of the governorship election, particularly as being irregular in most aspects.
“It is clearly not a true reflection of Ogun people's wish and it will be challenged as appropriate,” Akinbode said.
In a swift reaction, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr Timothy Ibitoye, dismissed the claim that INEC connived with APC to manipulate the results.
The REC said that the results announced by the commission was a true reflection of the votes cast in the state. (NAN)
