From the results of gubernatorial election so far collated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from 15 of the 23 local government areas of Kaduna State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won 12 local governments, leaving the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with just three local governments. That puts APC candidate Nasir El-Rufai in clear lead over incumbent Governor Mukhtar Yero.
Results of the remaining eight local government areas were still being awaited at the INEC headquarters in Kaduna as at the time of filing this report.
The collation exercise is presently on break to allow more results to come in and allow people take lunch and pray. Collation resumes by 2pm.
From the announced results, PDP won in Kajuru Local Government with 21,296 votes to APC’s 18,522; Jamaa, 45,272 to APC’s 39,760, while the party defeated APC with 21,296 to 18,522 in Kauru Local Government.
The opposition won the remaining 12 local government areas as follows: Kubau, APC 53,934, PDP 14,034; Kagarko, APC 24,846, PDP 15,413; Ikara, APC 37,521, PDP 16,836; Makarfi, APC 37,759, PDP 11,084; Soba, APC 55,836, PDP,12,743; Kudan, APC 31,563, PDP 11,025 and Kaura, APC 22,190, PDP 15,936 .
Others are Sabongari, APC. 61,107, PDP,12,504; Kaduna North, APC 106,915, PDP 12,465; Chikun, APC 36,920, PDP 27,248; Giwa, APC 48,248, PDP 14,197; Igabi, APC 88, 361 PDP 20,180 and Kaduna South, APC 120,535 PDP 15,665.
