Breaking News: Card reader fails to accredit Governor Obiano

Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has been denied recognition as a registered voter by the card reader being used by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2015 polls.

Governor Obiano, who is also the National Leader and Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) – the party in power in Anambra – was not approved for accreditation by the card reader when he turned up at his ward in Aguleri this morning. Ironically, the Governor passed the card reader test two weeks ago during the presidential and National Assembly polls.

Obiano is, however, only one out of the many rejected by the malfunctioning card readers, thus forcing INEC to resort to manual accreditation.

News Express reports that only State House of Assembly election is holding in Anambra, as Chief Obiano, who assumed office on March 17 last year, still has three years to complete his first tenure.
