Contrary to what happened two weeks ago during the presidential election in which he ran and lost, President Goodluck Jonathan easily passed the card reader test when he turned up this morning for accreditation in his ward in Otuoke, Bayelsa State. While the card reader refused to recognise the President on March 28 after making him to stand for over 35 minutes, he was approved in less than a minute this morning.
Accreditation is on-going across polling units in Bayelsa. In Akenfa area of Yenagoa eligible voters turned out en masse for the accreditation. In Otuasega in Ogbia Local Government Area accreditation was ongoing when News Express Correspondent visited the area
In all the places so far visited security men were deployed.
However the accreditation commenced late in isolated polling units in Ogbia Local Government due to late arrival of materials.
Turnout is generally low, but President Jonathan told newsmen that this is not surprising since there is no governorship election holding in the state but only the State Assembly poll.
As earlier reported by News Express, the election has been rescheduled in eight out of the 24 Constituencies by INEC due to shortage of ballot papers arising from an attack by pirates.
