The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State has disclosed that it has uncovered plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to rig today’s elections by using cloned card readers.
The Director-General of PDP Governorship Campaign Organisation in the state, Alhaji Aminu Yusuf Wushishi, said some trusted supporters of the APC have already undergone two days training in Abuja on how to manipulate the card readers with the cloned one which will give advantage to APC in the election.
Wushishi, who fingered Alhaji Sani Musa, the man who handled the contract of supplying the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with card readers and PVCs as the mastermind, added that he was informed by a reliable source.
According to him, “one of those that took part in the training, who could no longer stomach the illegal act divulge this to security agents in Minna on Wednesday, saying his conscience made him to reveal the secret.
“The APC member said as at Wednesday afternoon the plot to rig the election was being perfected at a private residence in Minna. Each local government has the PVC’s numbering in their thousands,” he said.
He further disclosed that less than 1,566 of the cloned PVC’s have already been recovered by security operatives from the spot where the final plan was being made stating that the card readers to be used are still being expected from Abuja.
The DG expressed his party’s worries towards this new development, urging police to get to the root of the matter.
“As a party we want the police to disclose the identities of all those concerned and also bring them to book. Zone “A” of the state is their main focus as the card readers, PVCs are already sent to those areas ahead of the election,” he stated.
