Oyo 2015: No amount of lies will save Ajimobi from defeat, Labour Party insists

The Director of Public Affairs of the Labour Party, Comrade Oludare Ogunlana, has lamented that Oyo State continued to suffer developmental deficiency despite the unprecedented amount of money the current administration in the state has so far gotten.

Speaking at a press conference on behalf of the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party, (LP), Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, at the NUJ Press Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan on Tuesday, Ogunlana attributed what he called the leadership deficiency as observed in the Ajimobi’s administration, to lack of creativity and penchant for financial misconduct.

“We berate Governor Abiola Ajimobi for blaming inadequate and delayed allocation as the reason for his non-performance. It was irresponsible for the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration to blame paucity of funds for its under-performance at a time the government is winding up,” he said.

Ogunlana added: “No amount of lies will save Governor Abiola Ajimobi from defeat. For having nothing to show for all the allocation it has gotten since inception, this government is not only fraudulent but lacking creativity.”

Giving account on one of the allegations leveled against Ajimobi recently, he said: “Not long ago, the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala revealed how Oyo State has collected N100 billion in the last 46 months but there is nothing tangible to show for this. Apart from the fact that the Mokola overhead bridge has not been able to solve the problem for which it was constructed, it was over-inflated. It is only the APC administration that constructs a kilometre of road at the cost of N1 billion.”

He, therefore, urged the people of the state to be firm in their bid to oust the incumbent administration, which, he maintained, had inflicted pains and elevated their problems rather than alleviate it.

“It would be counter-productive for Buhari if he associates with Ajimobi. During the electioneering process, Ajimobi neither wax any jingle nor print any poster for Buhari’s campaign until the last minutes when the party leadership confronted him. His wife on the other hand was busy gallivanting, travelling with the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan while wives of other APC chieftains were with Buhari’s wife, campaigning.”
