All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.) has powerfully overtaken President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in results of last Saturday’s presidential election so far declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Jonathan led with 19,763 votes (2,322,742 as against 2,302,979) as at the time of the first break in the afternoon after the collation of results from Ekiti, Ogun, Enugu, Kogi, Osun, Ondo, Oyo and Nasarawa states as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
However, after the collation of 16 states, Buhari now leads with 3,500,526 votes, having scored a total of 7,926,632 votes as against Jonathan’s 4,426,106 votes.
The collation, currently on recess, is taking place at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, and being presided over by INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega.
