Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Prince Buruji Kashamu, has emerged Senator for Ogun East senatorial district after being declared winner of last Saturday’s National Assembly polls.
Kashamu, who is reportedly wanted in the United States over drug trafficking offences, beat Prince Adedapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate with 99,540 against 84,001. The incumbent Senator for the zone, Alhaji Adegbenga Kaka, who ran on the ticket of the newly registered Social Democratic Party (SDP) came a distant third with 12,972 votes.
In Ogun Central, APC’s Prince Lanre Tejuoso beat incumbent Senator Gbenga Obadara of SDP, while in Ogun West, APC’s Prince Gbolahan Dada defeated PDP’s Waliu Taiwo and SDP’s Biyi Otegbeye to clinch the seat.
