President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife Patience have finally been accredited to vote in today’s presidential and National Assembly elections following the intervention of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega.
They were accredited manually after filling the incident form following the failure of card readers to recognise their Permanent Voters Cards.
“Jega directed that they should be registered using the incident form,” a source said.
The first citizen and his spouse had turned up at the polling booth in their ward in Otuoke, Bayelsa State, South-South, around 9:10 a.m. but left around 10am after the card readers failed approve them for accreditation.
Before returning home, President Jonathan told newsmen that he had called Jega to report the failure of the card machine, not only in his ward but also in some other parts of the country.
