Northern group endorses Buhari, says IGP has no constitutional right on voters

Ahead of the 2015 general elections, a group, the Arewa Liberation Movement, has on Wednesday endorsed All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential flag bearer, General Muhammadu Buhari for the 2015 presidential race.

It said Nigeria has tolerated enough misrule under President Goodluck Jonathan administration in the last six years.

Addressing a press conference in Kaduna, the National President, Comrade Usman Abubakar Usman noted, “Nigeria has tolerated enough misrule under President Goodluck Jonathan

administration in the past six years, ranging from insecurity, corruption, economic collapse, insensitivity to the plight of the common man, educational decline, lack of basic healthcare and other social infrastructure.”

He called on all well meaning Nigerians irrespective of their ethnic, religious, political, socio economic, cultural and regional affiliations to endorse and support the candidature of Buhari..

“Buhari has demonstrated the capacity, capacity, willingness and integrity needed at this critical

period of our national existence to steer this country to her rightful place and position in the committee of nations.

“2015 general election is yet another opportunity for Nigerians to decide their fate for the next four years, we therefore urge them to vote wisely and decisively.

“We called on the eligible voters to remain around the polling units in accordance with the provision of the electoral Act until the votes are sorted, count and results announced, emphasising that, the Inspector General of Police Suleiman Abba has no constitutional right

to stop voters from staying at the polling units, if that is the case, he does not know the electoral Act and we are not going to accept that,” he added.

On Asari Dokubo and Gani Adams’ unguarded utterances, he said: “It is quite unfortunate that President Goodluck Jonathan has not called them to order, so we believe that they are acting a script of the president.”
